Micromag magnetic filter slashes filter costs
Diesel engine manufacturer, Perkins Engines has recently installed a Micromag magnetic filter enabling it to make an impressive saving of 6 filters every day.
The Micromag is installed on a Heller 4-axis machining centre which is involved in cast-iron cylinder block production.
Not only has it resulted in cost savings on the filters but its minimal maintenance requirements have resulted in increased productive machine time. It has also been found to substantially extend both cutting tool and coolant life.
Motivated by the many benefits and the short payback period of the Micromag filter system, Phil Oldfield, Perkins Production Engineer intends to expand their use at the company’s impressive Peterborough plant:
“The in-depth data gathered through the course of the Micromag trial has made a compulsive case for its expanded implementation. As our initial experience with the Micromag filter system has been so positive, we intend to fit a further 9 machining centres with Micromag filters.”
