Adapted Micromag magnetic filters have addressed potential backpressure problems on Niftylifts's new HR21 hydraulic working platform. Milton Keynes based Niftylift is one of the largest manufacturers of hydraulic work platforms in Europe, its 'cherry pickers' or Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) provide an alternative to ladders, scaffold towers and scissor lifts.
It has recently launched the revolutionary Heightrider 21-DE, a self-propelled MEWP that can be switched seamlessly between a diesel or electric motor depending on working environment.
One of the problems in the development of this product was finding a suitable filter for its hydraulic pump: the Heightrider 21-DE's Rexroth axial piston variable displacement pump is extremely efficient but it has a low tolerance to backpressure, therefore normal filter media was considered unsuitable.
Niftylift approached Eclipse Magnetics with their problem. We designed a new filter head and supplied them with specially adapted Micromag magnetic filters. The solution pleased Niftylift project engineer, John Sizer:
"Micromag's outstanding filtration capability exactly matched our technical requirements. The use of Eclipse Magnetics's Micromag filters has now eradicated all previous backpressure problems.
"In addition to the Micromag efficiently removing potentially harmful contaminates, the filter's accessiblility ensures minimum maintenance down-time."
A signification proportion of our products, across our range, are similarly custom designed and built after working with our customers. Our experience and expertise in this area means that our lead times are short and our prices competitive.
